Steven Weinberg, the Jack S. Josey-Welch Foundation Chair in Science and Regental Professor at the University of Texas, delivered three lectures as part of Cornell's Messenger Lecture series.

He spoke on the following topics:

Steven Weinberg received his undergraduate degree from Cornell in 1954. Weinberg, his Cornell classmate Sheldon Lee Glashow (BS '54), and Abdus Salam shared the 1979 Nobel Prize in Physics “for their contributions to the theory of the unified weak and electromagnetic interaction between elementary particles, including, inter alia, the prediction of the weak neutral current."
