Storage Ring Trajectory Analysis Using Singular Value Decomposition Mike Billing and Mike Forster, mentors This project is to develop computer software to analyze multi-turn trajectories of electron and positron beams in the storage ring accelerator using the Method of Singular Value Decomposition. This technique decomposes the turn-by-turn position information from a set of beam position monitors into spatial and temporal components. The technique also yields the beam envelop functions and the characteristic oscillation frequencies of the beams. The project will measure and analyze data taken in the storage ring CESR.
