CMS simulations Julia Thom, mentor In preparation for the CMS experiment at CERN we are working on developing and testing data analysis algorithms by studying simulated high energy proton-proton collisions. The project will involve testing data handling, tracking, vertexing and jet algorithms to reconstruct Monte Carlo events at the CMS experiment, such as Higgs decays. Real data from lower energy proton-anti-proton collisions at the Tevatron is available to understand typical detector and physics backgrounds. Required: familiarity with C++
