Abstract

We use CLEOIII data to make the first measurement of the exclusive decay of the \cascz\ to \p\kmi\kmi\pip\
final state. In \cleoiiv\, particle identification was not sufficient to obtain good signal to background
ratio in this mode. The new RICH (Ring Imaging CHerenkov) particle identification, combined with the energy
loss (de/dx) measurements, has dramatically improved the signal significance. In the following analysis, we
have measured the decay rate relative to the normalizing mode \cascz\decays\casmi\pip\, to be 0.31$\pm$0.07
($stat.$)$\pm$0.03($syst.$) for \cascz\decays\p\kmi\kmi\pip\ and $0.26\pm0.06(stat.)\pm0.02(syst.)$ for the
resonant substructure mode \cascz\decays\p\kmi${\bar K}^*(892)^0$.
