Magnetic Field Calculations for the Cornell Synchrotron Magnets
This page serves to catalog and archive results from magnetic field calculations for the Cornell synchrotron combined-function magnets obtained
from the
Vector Fields Software for
Electromagnetic Design (OPERA version 15R3).

Field calculations are available for six types of Cornell synchrotron magnets. Field tables and plots of field values, gradients and integrals are provided below.
Opera command files, including detailed commentary on geometry and development history: modeling, post-processing
- VF: Wide-gap vertically-focusing
(SAT file, field table (text, 23 Mb), plots (pdf, 533 kb))
- HF: Narrow-gap horizontally-focusing
(SAT file, field table (text, 23 Mb), plots (pdf, 533 kb))
- VFEX: Wide-gap vertically-focusing with extraction channel
(field table, (text, 31 Mb), plots (pdf, 600 kb))
- HFEX: Narrow-gap horizontally-focusing with extraction channel
(field table, (text, 31 Mb), plots (pdf, 585 kb))
- VFM: Wide-gap vertically-focusing modified for high gradient near the straight sections
(field table, (text, 23 Mb), plots (pdf, 533 kb))
- HFM: Narrow-gap horizontally-focusingmodified for high gradient near the straight sections
(field table, (text, 23 Mb), plots (pdf, 533 kb))
The two magnet types relevant for tracking calculations related to the transfer of electron and positron beams to the Cornell Electron Storage Ring are the VF and HFEX magnet types.
