We have reserved a block of 30 rooms in the Hotel Gellert and a block of 25 rooms in the Hotel Duna (Mercure chain). Here is some more detailed info about the two conference hotels.

This is one of the most famous historic hotels in Budapest, about 20 minutes walking distance from the conference. It is famous for the on-site Gellert bath, which is included for hotel guests. The hotel has a very nice old-world atmosphere. The rooms facing the Danube and the Gellert Hill have amazing views. You can purchase a week's wireless internet access for HUF 10000 (about $50). Breakfast is included in the prices.
However, the furniture in the rooms is a bit worn. Also, there is no AC. We think that these two drawbacks are well compensated by the atmosphere, bath, location, etc, but everyone should make his own pick.
To make a reservation for this hotel, please fill in the attached reservation form and fax it back directly to the Hotel. They will confirm your reservation directly. These rooms and prices are guaranteed until April 27, 2007. The cheapest rooms are for one person, and they have a shower in the bathroom. The only difference between the cheapest and the next level rooms is that the bathroom is much bigger and has a large bathtub instead of shower. The next category is a double room overlooking the courtyard (no view of the Danube or the hill), and the room marked category D is a double with a view. There is also a most expensive type of room (with view and very modern furniture) for around EUR 200 of which we did not reserve any of, but if you would like that kind it may be available upon request.
This is a standard Western-European style Hotel. It is also about 15-20 minutes walk across the Danube from the Conference site. It has AC, and the rooms facing the Danube have very nice views. You can purchase wireless internet on the 5-6th floors, and DSL with cable connection on the 3rd floor (it is somewhat cheaper). The wireless is quite expensive (about $30/day), the DSL on the 3rd floor is more reasonable (about $10/day). However, there will be free wireless access at the University for all participants. Breakfast is included in prices.
If you pick this hotel, please use this reservation form. Single rooms are EUR72/day and doubles EUR84/day. Since the view is very nice it may be well worth the extra EUR5/day for the rooms facing the Danube. There is a limited number of triple rooms for EUR20 extra, reserve those early.
