CT Scan of soft neck tissue (excerpted) 11 August 2004 Indication: Neck mass Impression: A 5cm wide by 9 cm high neoplasm in the right neck with evidence for bony destruction of the lateral aspects of C6, with extension through the neural foramina for C6/7 and C5/6. Mass largely contained in deep cervical fascia within the prevertebral portion of the perivertebral space. This mass encases the right vertebral artery from the subcavian to C4 level. There is anterial and left lateral displacement of the laryngeal structures. There does not appear to be adenopathy within the jugular chains, spinal accessory or transverse cervical chain at this time. Notes: 5cm wide by 4.8 cm deep; prevertibral portion of perivertebral space. It extends from C3 to T2 vertically. It appears to be contained in the deep layer of the deep cervical fascia Lyctic destruction of the right lateral aspect of C6; evidence of extension into neural foramina of C5/6 and C6/7. Mass displacing laryngeal structures to the left; thyroid cartilage rotated in leftward anterior direction. The cartoid artery and thyroid gland are anteriorly displaced. [anterior = front, as opposed to posterior]. The right vertebral artery is encased from its origin on the subclavian upward to C4. Differential diagnosis based on this scan: non-Hodgkin's lymphoma or meastatic disease to the vertebral bodies.
