MRI/A final report (excerpted) MR scan of head: Indication: chordoma (no surprise) Findings: no problems or lesions seen Impression: unremarkable pre- and post-contrast MR scan of the head 3-D time-of-flight MRA of cerebral arteries: This checked the anterior, middle and posterior cerebral arteries and the basilar and distal vetebral arteries. All are normal in location (course) and diameter (caliber) without evidence of aneurysm (swelling - indicating a weakened wall) or other problems. Impression: normal study MRA Cervical arteries: Diminished diameter of right vetebral artery (the one encompassed by the chordoma), but no focal stenosis. Left is clear and is currently the main source for the basilar artery. Other arteries look normal in structure. Impression: small caliber right vetebral artery as it courses up through the neck. Contrast-enhanced MR scan of Cspine and soft neck: Again note that mass has extended through foramina at C5-6 on the right of the epidural space and spinal cord. No evidence of spinal cord compression at this time. Mass sized at 9.8 cm in height and 5 cm in depth (was 9 x (4.5 to 5) five weeks prior ... so maybe 5-10% growth in volume over that time). Mass seems well-defined. Invasion of C5 and C6 vetebral bodies again noted (these will be removed in surgery). Right vetebral artery could be sacrificed if warranted by surgery; catheter angiogram suggested to help evaluate this issue. Impression: slight increase in the size of the right neck chordoma when compared to scan of 11 August.
