Notes from 24 August 2004 CMC MRI and MRIA scans This did not go very well, not through any fault of the staff at CMC. I spend 4+ hours at CMC, with about 90 minutes actually in the solenoid. The first brain scans went OK. With the table positioned for the cervical spine series my elbows were no longer supported. This is one of the few positions guaranteed to results in serious arm pain; in fact this is the first symptom of this problem that I noted, back in late Fall 2003. Two scans had to be scrapped. We inserted pillows under my arms after I was in the solenoid and this helped mitigate the pain and allow me to be sufficiently still to complete the series. However, it was noted that the scripts from MemS-K stated my problem was a C1/2 chordoma when in reality it is a C5/6 chordoma, which I had indicated on the CMC registration paperwork. The technician got in contact with both the local radiologist and Dr. Bilsky's office at MemS-K to determine the exact reasons for the scans. It was decided that I needed another series, this one with an IV and contrast. After the contrast series, the radilogist felt I needed one further follow-up scan of both the brain and the cervical spine. It was a long morning.
